Track and Field Overload

What can I say....Wednesday I had a track meet for my girls, Thursday we went up to Mt. Sac and watched our old ISU clan run, Saturday I worked the Long Beach Invite Track Meet (6:30 am -11:00) and then on Sunday went back up to Mt. Sac for the final day of track and field. To top it off, last night I went up to Pasedena for a coaches meeting for our League prelims and finals. I konw that I love track and I am so passionate about the sport but talk about overload. WOW! My girls only have two more meets but Raul is only half way through with his season. I guess you could say we are die hards. Wilson's birthday was Sunday and I got a really good picture of him but it is on Raul's camera. I will try to post it tomorrow.

Happy Friday

The week is not over yet but thank goodness that it is Friday. Last night Raul and I went to Mt. Sac to watch some of CSULB's distance runners as well as some Idaho State kids. It was so awesome to see my old coach and Jackie and Cassie and the rest of the bunch. It makes me miss Pocatello. It is always nice to see a familiar face.

Saturday is going to be crazy, CSULB is putting on a big track meet. Guess who is going to work at it??? I am such a good girl friend. So if we make it through that day it will be smooth sailing because Sunday we will be at Mt. Sac again watching more track. Good thing I can't get enough of running, jumping, and throwing. I am excited!!!

I Just Keep Plugging Along

I feel like the long weeks catch up with me by Wednesday. Today we have a track meet and I am excited for it but my body feels so exhausted. Usually at meets I am running around frantically making sure all my girls are in the right events and have the right marks. Meet day is always so hectic but it is all worth it. I love being a part of such a neat experience.

I ran 4 1/2 miles yesterday so now I am up to 7 miles for the week. Raul and I watched the Biggest Loser finale last night and a woman finally won the competition. It was pretty cool. I just think that show is so wonderful! But after I watch that show I always feel like I need to work out, I guess you could say that they motivate me. If I could have a dream job it would be to work on a program like the biggest loser that not only helps people lose weight but educates them on what it takes to make a healthy lifestyle change. So even though there are not enough hours in the day to do it ALL, I keep plugging along.

I would also like to welcome Kasey Joy to the blogging world. I am so excited that she has decided to get her self together and take the plunge. Kasey and I met at Central Arizona College, we pretty much had the same schedule...we hit it off so well that we became roommates our sophomore year. And the rest was history, we moved up to Idaho together and started a fun and crazy life...we have had some great adventures and I hope for many more....love you Kasey!

Idaho in the Big Apple

Sunday was very eventful for us...we went to the university and threw javelin. It felt really good to just throw because I haven't really done it in a while. After our throwing competition, which by the way Raul won by like 6 ft, we went for a 25 min run (about 2.5 miles). I am going to count that as part of my 11 miles for the week. I am thinking about cutting my hair and Jenn is having the same issue with Paige. Every time I get the courage to chop off my hair, I have a bad dream about it and my hair is as short as it was when I was a sophomore in high school....YIKES!!! So we will just have to see what I decided to do.

So...this morning as we were getting ready for our glorious California day, Al (from the Today show) was in Rupert, Idaho...that is where Raul is from. I started screaming and Raul recorded it. Who'd a thought tiny little Rupert Idaho for the Today show to come and visit...they easily could have gone to Boise or Pocatello...but instead Rupert. It would be the same deal if the Today show came to Pima....oh the things that we get excited about.

Saturday night in the City of LA

Thursday... The Office made its first show back since the STRIKE. It was as usual...a hoot. Our household is very religious when it comes to the Office and the biggest loser. We never miss an episode.

Friday night my friend and I decided to go watch our significant other's track team compete at the Big West Challenge. The meet was at UC Irvine and was so awesome. Raul's group did so well...pretty much owned the sprint events. Both men and women won the meet and they got trophies and everything. Both 4X400m relay teams were spectacular. I am so proud of Raul and the hard work that is finally paying off!

Spontaneous is the word that would best describe my boyfriend for last night. We got up early Saturday, went to have my oil changed and then went out to the Arcadia Track meet. It was so hot! Raul was doing some recruiting there so it was important that we stayed and watched. Well since we were over in the LA area Raul decided that it would be awesome if we went to the Dodger game. Well....we had a blast. Jackie Chan threw the first pitch and we had Mexican food before hand, we saw Joe Torre. We spent a fun night out in LA it was great! These are the times when we say "We live in Southern California, and we are not even on Vacation."

I made my goal of ten miles this week. I ran four on friday. We didn't get to do the hike but at least I got my miles. Maybe next week I will boost it up to 11 miles. Hope it goes well.

Update on my Life

Last night we talked to Raul's mom and she told us that Hendrix is just the cutest baby you have ever seen. This is the first grand baby that is human, the others have been dogs so he is guaranteed to be super cute. All he does right now is look at things I am expecting a full vocabulary and sign language by the end of May:).

Track has been keeping me super busy. Raul and I haven't spent a weekend together since the first of March. We expect that in the spring but honestly, I would like a bit of a break. We have a meet today that is up in Pasadena and our last meet was pretty awesome. My girls work so hard and I am so proud of them. I coach every event but pole vault and distance so my afternoons are full of jumping, hurdling, relays, etc. I am pretty lucky to have three people on staff to help me though.

So I have some really cool news...Raul and I are going to climb Mt. Whitney (2nd tallest Mt. in the US, behind Mt. McKinley in Alaska). I think it is like over 14,000 ft. SO...we have to train for it. We are going to go with some friends who have a permit. I have been running this week (up to 6 miles) and we want to try to go for some kind of long hike up in Monrovia Canyon Falls (over by Pasadena) . I am also going to try to log my miles for the week. I want to get to ten...4 more by Sunday!!! I am really looking forward to the climb and I am really looking forward for it to being done so I can say..."I climbed the highest Mt. in the upper 48!"

BoY oH BoY!

Early this morning around one o'clock Raul's Sister...Neeka had a little baby boy name Hendrix. We are so happy to finally have him here with us. He is the first baby...and grandbaby in the Reyes-Roger Family. As soon as we can, we will be up to Boise to see him. Welcome to the World Hendrix...its about time.
